Abstract

This paper presents piezoelectric energy harvesting system which converts the wind energy into vibration energy or mechanical energy to produce power. A piezoelectric cantilever beam energy harvester is designed for functioning in low wind velocity areas to produce effective vibration especially for remote areas. A piezoelectric strip is attached to the cantilever beam which vibrates in wind. A blunt body is attached to the free end of cantilever beam to enhance the mechanical vibration further in the system. The effect of various wind velocity for various configurations of piezoelectric cantilever beam and the corresponding mechanical vibrations are studied and plotted. Theoretical results are validated using static structural analysis ANSYS software for the piezoelectric cantilever beam energy harvester.
